TERMS OF USE
The rules for accessing and using RescueSpan during founding and future service.
These terms protect the shared workflow, participating organizations, authorized users, and the platform infrastructure that connects them.
1. Eligibility and authority
You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to act for the organization, role, and records connected to your account. Organization administrators are responsible for approving users, assigning appropriate roles, and removing access when a person no longer needs it.
2. Accounts and access
Accounts are personal and may not be shared. You must provide accurate account information, protect your password, maintain access to your email address, and notify RescueSpan promptly of suspected compromise. RescueSpan may verify identity, organization affiliation, or authority before granting or restoring access.
3. Authorized organizational use
RescueSpan may be used only for legitimate animal-welfare operations and related administration. Your use must follow these Terms, the Acceptable Use rules, the Responsible Use onboarding, your organization’s policies, and applicable law.
4. Organization data and platform rights
Participating organizations retain their rights in records and materials they lawfully submit. They grant RescueSpan the limited permission needed to host, process, display, transmit, back up, and otherwise operate those records through authorized workflows. Users must not submit information they are not permitted to use or share.
RescueSpan, the Shuff Platform architecture, software, workflows, designs, documentation, and related intellectual property remain owned by Steve Shuff or the applicable licensor. Access to the service does not transfer ownership of the underlying platform.
5. Shared information and independent decisions
RescueSpan helps organizations exchange approved information and coordinate actions. Each organization remains independently responsible for verifying information, evaluating animals, selecting placements, arranging transport, meeting legal duties, and making veterinary, care, safety, custody, and operational decisions.
6. No emergency, veterinary, or legal service
RescueSpan is not an emergency service, veterinary provider, legal adviser, shelter operator, rescue organization, transporter, or guarantor of any placement. Do not delay emergency care, required reporting, veterinary attention, or legal action while waiting for a platform response or notification.
7. Pilot operation and availability
Founding access may include evolving features, limited support, planned maintenance, and changes based on real use. RescueSpan may modify, pause, or discontinue a feature or pilot relationship when reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, platform integrity, or responsible product development. Material changes affecting user obligations will be communicated.
8. Fees and separate agreements
Any fees, implementation work, data migration, service level, or organization-specific commitment must be stated in a separate written proposal, order, or pilot agreement. Public pricing information is not a guarantee of eligibility or a complete service contract.
9. Suspension and termination
RescueSpan may limit or suspend access when an account appears compromised, a user exceeds authority, records are at risk, required onboarding is incomplete, payment obligations under a separate agreement are unmet, or use may violate law or these Terms. Where practical, RescueSpan will work with the participating organization to preserve appropriate access to its records and orderly transition.
10. Disclaimers and responsibility
The service is provided on an as-available basis during the founding stage. RescueSpan does not promise that every record is accurate, every notification will arrive, every partner will respond, or every placement will succeed. To the extent permitted by law, RescueSpan is not responsible for decisions made by participating organizations, user-submitted information, third-party services, or indirect losses arising from use of the platform.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless a separate signed agreement provides otherwise or applicable law requires another result.
12. Changes and contact
RescueSpan may update these Terms as the service matures. Material changes may require renewed acceptance. Questions may be submitted through the Contact & privacy requests page.
